I have difficulties in both written and spoken English.
When I am given topics to write essays, I often run out of ideas. My vocabulary is also quite limited. Although I have read many story books, I just do not know how to apply what I have read in my essay writing.
During oral examinations, I have difficulties in picture discussion and conversation. I feel very tensed as I am required to study the picture and think of what to say in just ten minutes. I also do not know how to enrich my description. I can only describe the picture in a dull manner. I especially do not how to infer from the pictures and can only give short answers.
Conversation with teachers, especially strict-looking teachers, is a great pressure to me. When asked to talk about a topic, I can only muster a sentence or two before going blank. I am not used to talking much in my daily life. Besides, I speak Mandarin at home and therefore have little confidence in speaking English.
